This breathtaking crossbreed will brighten up your Spring with its beautiful pinkish white blossoms!

--

Saucer Magnolia is a well-known flowering shrub or tree that was primarily a result of cross-breeding Lilytree (or Yulan Magnolia) and Lily Magnolia in the 1820s. Its breathtaking, saucer-like, pinkish white flowers will appear first during Spring, followed by its dark green leaves. During the fall, its leaves will change its color to golden brown before falling into the ground. In some cultivars, its flowers appear in magenta, brilliant pink or purple. Its color may seem to fade as it reappears in Summer or Winter. It is a multistem shrub but can be trimmed to grow as a tree. Its maximum height upon maturity will reach 30 feet high and 25 feet wide. It has a large, wide foliage and a smooth, silver gray bark. This lovely tree loves full sun, and acidic, moist and deep soil. It also has a good resistance to pollution. The bigger branches of Saucer Magnolia is used as nesting place and its seeds are eaten by birds.
