It has a greenish yellow foliage that turns into green as it grows older. It then transforms into vibrant golden yellow every Fall. It has an aromatic bark and smooth branchlets. It also has a dark red winter buds, and orange and green flowers that looks like a tulip. It is easy to grow since it is low maintenance and can adjust to any climates, even the colder ones. The Tulip Poplar flourishes best in soil that is a fairly acidic. This ornamental tree can grow until 90 feet and its canopy would reach up to 40 feet.
