Paw Paw Trees | Fruit Tree
Add some tropical vibe to your landscape with this North American homegrown.
--
Paw Paw is the biggest North American homegrown fruit that can grow either a shrub or a small tree. Its delicious fruit has a tropical taste, a mix of mango, pineapple and banana. Its fruit production starts within 4 to 8 years since it is grown from its seeds. It grows a golden foliage during fall and produces maroon blooms during Spring. It is also called as Quaker Delight, Poor Man's Banana or Indiana Banana. Its fruit extract can also be made into a pill to be used to boost cell health. For best results, it should be planted in moist and well-drained soil. It is not tolerant to strong winds so make sure to place it in a secured spot. It grows up to 30 feet high, with a width of 20 feet at maturity. Make sure to water it heavily once weekly during its formative years, especially during dry weather. It can produce fruit under a shade but performs better under sunlight.
