--
Yellow Bird Magnolia is a hybrid deciduous tree with a fascinating light yellow flower that blooms during the Spring. It is a product of the cross-breeding of Cucumbertree and Mulan Magnolia at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden that started in 1953. This beautiful hybrid can appear like a cone or a pyramid. Its blossom is shaped like a cup with 6 tepals and takes up to three weeks before it wilts. Its pear-shaped, dark green leaves changes into golden brown every Fall. Its maximum height can reach up to 40 feet tall with a width of 30 feet wide. It loves full sun to partly shade, and grows best in naturally rich, moist and well-drained soils. It is reasonably low maintenance and has no critically negative attributes. It needs to be watered regularly for the first 12 months after planting and during dry season.
