Hackberry is an elegant deciduous tree that lives quite long. It is also called as American Hackberry, Nettletree and Northern Hackberry. It grows a unique, shapeless foliage with a rough texture. It also bears tiny fruit that changes its color from orange red to dark purple during Fall. Its fruit are well-loved by winter birds, such as mockingbird and robin. Famous for being a tough tree, it can tolerate a wide array of temperatures and endure strong winds. It is also resistant to air pollution. You can conserve a lot of energy upon choosing this tree since it doesn't need to be watered regularly. It is resistant to drought and loves full sun. It must stay at least six hours under the sunlight. It grows best in moist and well-drained soil, and can endure flooding. Upon maturity, it develops a wide canopy with its curling branches.
