The Oakleaf Hydrangea gets its name from its large oak like leaves. The leaves turn from green to red, orange, and yellow in the fall. The color will last well into winter.
The blooms which change from bright white to pinkish is another distinctive characteristic of this hydrangea.
It’s considered a low maintenance shrub; however, it is best to water heavily the first season after planting to help the root system establish. Part shade is acceptable for this plant, but it will bloom more heavily if in full sun.
